Salary/Hourly Rate:

$20/hr – $25/hr

Position Overview:

The Junior Accountant will be responsible for assisting with day-to-day accounting operations, including processing accounts payable/receivable, reconciling general ledger accounts, and supporting financial reporting and month-end closing activities. The Junior Accountant role offers the chance to work closely with Senior Accountants and various departments to ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial data.

Responsibilities of the Junior Accountant:

  • Assist in maintaining and reconciling the general ledger, ensuring the accuracy of all financial transactions.
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely and accurate payments and collections.
  • Help prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Support the month-end and year-end close processes, including posting journal entries and reconciling accounts.
  • Reconcile bank statements and assist with cash management processes.
  • Assist with tax filings and regulatory reporting following industry standards.
  • Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
  • Work closely with senior accountants during external audits and ensure timely completion of audit requirements.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes by preparing necessary financial data and analysis.
  • Perform ad-hoc accounting tasks as required.

Qualifications for the Junior Accountant:

  • 1 – 3 years of accounting experience, particularly with general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, or financial reporting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and v-lookups (experience with QuickBooks and similar ERP systems is a plus).
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles (GAAP) and financial regulations.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Team-oriented with a positive, proactive attitude and eagerness to learn and grow in the field.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience) is required.
  • CPA certification (or in progress) is a plus but not required.
