Our client is a dynamic and rapidly growing organization specializing in the construction site development aspect of residential, commercial, and industrial projects. Currently, they are looking to add an Estimating Manager to their expanding team.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$125k – $175k

Position Overview:

As the Estimating Manager, you will lead the Estimating team in creating accurate and competitive bids for projects. Your primary focus will be on ensuring that bids are comprehensive, profitable, and aligned with company objectives. You will work closely with the Estimating team, department heads, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information, review bids thoroughly, and meet client deadlines effectively. Your attention to detail, commitment to value engineering, and ability to communicate effectively across departments will be essential in preparing professional-quality bids that set our client apart from competitors.

Responsibilities of the Estimating Manager:

  • Bid Creation and Profitability: Lead the Estimating team in creating bids for projects, ensuring that they include all necessary elements and are profitable for the company, with a built-in profit margin of 17%. Utilize cost estimation techniques, historical data, and industry benchmarks to develop accurate and competitive bid proposals.
  • Bid Review and Quality Assurance: Thoroughly review all bids to ensure that every aspect of the project is identified, priced correctly, and aligned with company standards and objectives. Collaborate with department heads and subject matter experts to obtain feedback and incorporate relevant details into bids.
  • Client Deadline Management: Manage the estimating process to meet client deadlines effectively and timely, ensuring that bids are submitted on schedule and by client requirements.
  • Professional-Quality Bids: Prepare professional-quality bid documents that demonstrate our expertise, capabilities, and value proposition to clients. Ensure that bids are presented in a clear, organized, and compelling manner, setting us apart from competitors.
  • Value Engineering and Attention to Detail: Implement value engineering principles to optimize project costs and deliver maximum value to clients while maintaining profitability for the company. Pay close attention to detail in all aspects of bid preparation, including cost breakdowns, material quantities, labor estimates, and project schedules.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Communicate effectively with other departments to gather details and information necessary for bid preparation, ensuring that all relevant factors are considered. Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to address challenges, resolve issues, and optimize bid proposals.

Qualifications for the Estimating Manager:

  • Proven experience in construction estimating, with a track record of successfully preparing accurate and competitive bids.
  • Strong understanding of construction cost estimation techniques, industry standards, and best practices.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret project specifications, drawings, and other technical documents.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in bid preparation, with a focus on maximizing profitability while delivering value to clients.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a a related field is required.
  • Relevant industry certifications are preferred.
