Our client is a New York City-based luxury fashion brand. We are seeking a talented and motivated Staff Accountant to manage and support our client’s financial operations.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$70k – $80k
Position Overview:
This Staff Accountant role will play a key part in ensuring the accuracy of financial records, assisting with monthly closing, and preparing financial statements for our client. The ideal candidate for the Staff Accountant role will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent attention to detail, and a passion for the fashion industry.
Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant:
- Process invoices, payments, and expense reports while ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Follow up on outstanding receivables and provide support in collections.
- Assist in maintaining and reconciling general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations, ensuring that all transactions are accurately recorded and discrepancies are investigated and resolved.
- Assist in the month-end close process, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, and the generation of financial reports.
- Prepare various financial reports, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other ad-hoc reports as needed.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including Operations, Sales, and Retail to ensure accurate accounting for business transactions.
Qualifications for the Staff Accountant:
- 1 – 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in the fashion or luxury goods industry.
- Experience in luxury goods, fashion, or retail industry accounting.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, etc.), and experience with accounting software (RLM is a plus).
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
