Our client, a boutique law firm specializing in Real Estate is seeking a Controller to join their team!

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$80,000 – $90,000

Position Overview:

The Controller will be responsible for managing the financial activities of the firm, including accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance. This Controller role requires a hands-on approach and the ability to work closely with the firm’s partners and administrative staff to ensure accurate and timely financial information.

Responsibilities of the Controller:

  • Financial Management:
    • Oversee all aspects of the firm’s financial operations, including accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger management
    • Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures to ensure efficient and accurate financial operations
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports
  • Budgeting and Forecasting:
    • Assist in the development of the annual budget and financial forecasts
    • Monitor and analyze budget performance and provide variance analysis
    • Provide strategic financial recommendations to support the firm’s growth and profitability
  • Compliance and Auditing:
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable financial regulations and legal requirements
    • Coordinate and manage annual audits and tax filings
    • Maintain accurate and organized financial records for audit purposes
  • Cash Flow Management:
    • Monitor and manage the firm’s cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity
    • Prepare cash flow projections and identify potential financial risks
  • Financial Analysis:
    • Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making and strategic planning
    • Provide financial insights and recommendations to improve operational efficiency and profitability
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Work closely with the firm’s partners, attorneys, and administrative staff to support financial needs
    • Provide training and guidance to staff on financial procedures and best practices

Qualifications for the Controller:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting or financial management, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting processes
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Clio) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Paylocity
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required
