Salary/Hourly Rate:
$70k – $75k
Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Product Development Associate to join our growing team. Reporting to the Vice President of Product Development and working closely with the Product Development Manager, this role will assist in all aspects of the product development process, from concept to market introduction. The ideal candidate will have a background in textiles or home goods and a keen eye for design and quality control.
Responsibilities of the Product Development Associate:
- Develop and maintain a product development time and action calendar to track the progress of new product developments.
- Create sew spec standards for new products to ensure quality and consistency.
- Develop cost structures for custom hospitality requests and specific product categories.
- Communicate daily with cut and sew facilities and packaging suppliers to manage production timelines.
- Oversee product packaging and labeling information for assigned categories.
- Resolve quality control issues with suppliers to maintain product standards.
- Manage testing of products through outside laboratories.
- Assist with product setup during market week, ensuring all elements are ready for display.
- Possible travel to overseas suppliers to ensure production meets company standards.
Qualifications of the Product Development Associate:
- 4+ years of experience in product development, ideally within the home textiles industry.
- A strong understanding of fabrics and the home textiles market.
- Exceptional color sense and ability to distinguish colors accurately.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; Photoshop experience is a plus.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of the Sferra team.
- Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
