Salary/Hourly Rate:
$100k – $125k
Position Overview:
As the company’s financial skeleton, the Controller will supervise all accounting tasks and guarantee the precision and integrity of financial transactions. Creating and overseeing thorough accounting plans, financial reporting, and compliance systems that support the business’s expansion goals will be the main responsibilities of this position. To facilitate scalability and operational excellence, the Controller will also take the lead in designing effective accounting systems and procedures. The ideal applicant will have extensive knowledge of accounting and financial operations, and supply chain or building materials industry experience is highly valued. To address the company’s changing demands, the Controller will also work with leadership on financial planning efforts and assemble a capable accounting team.
Responsibilities of the Controller:
- Create, carry out, and oversee the business’s accounting policies and practices to guarantee adherence to legal requirements and GAAP.
- Work together with the Operations and Technology teams to support the Infor ERP configuration while making sure that it complies with accounting and financial reporting regulations.
- Execute and supervise all accounting tasks, such as payroll, accounts payable/receivable, month-end close procedures, and general ledger administration.
- Verify the integrity and correctness of every financial transaction made through RealPage, Infor, and other financial systems.
- Verify adherence to all legal and regulatory obligations, including tax legislation, audit standards, and reporting guidelines.
- Give the company’s leadership insight into financial performance by analyzing and reporting important data in detail.
- Collaborate with the Distribution and Supply Chain teams to guarantee precise accounting and reporting of logistics, inventory, and vendor payments.
- With precise financial information and predictions, assist with pricing strategies and operational decision-making.
- Hire, develop, and oversee a top-performing accounting staff that can handle the challenges of an expanding company.
Qualifications for the Controller:
- Experience: 8+ years of growing experience in financial management and accounting, with 3+ years spent in leadership positions.
- Experience in the distribution or supply chain sectors is necessary.
- Knowledge in the building materials sector is highly valued.
- A track record of successfully establishing and growing accounting systems and teams.
- Advanced understanding of regulatory compliance, financial reporting, and GAAP.
- Strong knowledge of inventory accounting and supply chain operations.
- Knowledge of financial tools and ERP systems (RealPage and Infor are desirable).
- Outstanding leadership, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional certification is required.
- MBA is preferred.
