Our client is a leading investment services firm, known for its commitment to providing financial services with integrity, innovation, and personalized attention. The firm seeks a Fixed Income Capital Markets Attorney to provide legal counsel and support for its growing Fixed Income Capital Markets (FICM) division.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$95/hr

Position Overview:

This remote legal position offers the opportunity to work closely with business and control functions in Raymond James’ Legal Department. The Fixed Income Capital Markets Attorney will manage legal matters related to Fixed Income Capital Markets, including transactional, regulatory, and litigation matters while advising senior management and drafting various securities-related agreements.

Responsibilities of the Fixed Income Capital Markets Attorney:

  • Provide legal advice and recommendations to senior management on corporate actions.
  • Collaborate with legal, compliance, risk, audit, and other teams to manage FICM legal matters and enhance organizational policies and controls.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements (e.g., NDAs, vendor agreements, trading-related documents).
  • Oversee and manage outside counsel as needed.
  • Coach and mentor Legal Department staff, providing guidance on professional development and continuing education.
  • Stay current on corporate and financial regulatory laws, advising on changes or impacts to the organization.
  • Develop and present legal strategies to senior management.
  • Manage a portfolio of legal matters while balancing priority demands.
  • Lead the preparation of legal theories, strategies, and presentations related to FICM transactions.

Required Experience/Skills for the Fixed Income Capital Markets Attorney:

  • Regulatory experience in Fixed Income Capital Markets, including knowledge of trading agreements (ISDAs, MSFTAs, Repos).
  • Ability to draft, review, and negotiate complex legal documents.
  • Strong critical thinking, legal analysis, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, evolving regulatory environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple legal priorities and tasks effectively.
  • Strong communication skills (both written and oral), including delivering presentations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across functional teams.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Fixed Income Capital Markets Attorney:

  • Experience in financial services, preferably with a background in broker-dealer regulation or related legal matters in the fixed-income market.
  • Experience coaching or mentoring legal teams.

Education Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) with excellent academic credentials.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in relevant practice areas (law firm, regulator, self-regulatory organization, or in-house within the financial services industry).
  • Membership in good standing with at least one state bar.
  • Ability to obtain Florida Authorized House Counsel if residing in Florida (and not a member of the Florida bar).
