Our client is a small and growing outdoor furniture reseller looking to add a Senior Staff Accountant to support their financial operations.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$65k – $75k plus Bonus

Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Staff Accountant. In this role, you will focus on monthly close activities, manage weekly check runs, and handle day-to-day accounting tasks to ensure accurate and timely reporting. The Senior Staff Accountant will report directly to the Director of Finance and collaborate with various teams across the organization.

Responsibilities of the Senior Staff Accountant: 

  • Month-End Close: Perform journal entries, reconcile balance sheet accounts, and assist with financial statement preparation.
  • Accounts Payable: Oversee weekly check runs and ensure timely, accurate vendor payments, providing guidance on coding to the AP Accountant.
  • General Ledger Maintenance: Manage and maintain accurate GL accounts; prepare necessary entries to ensure the integrity of financial data.
  • Account Reconciliations: Perform regular reconciliations of all key balance sheet accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
  • Tax & Compliance Support: Assist with sales tax filings and collaborate with external accountants on tax matters as needed.
  • SOP Documentation & Process Improvements: Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures while identifying and implementing ways to streamline accounting functions.
  • Audit & Reviews: Support annual reviews and potential audits by gathering required documentation and data.
  • Patent License: Maintain the patent license revenue schedule and work alongside the VP to collect payments semiannually.

Required Experience/Skills for the Senior Staff Accountant: 

  • 2+ years of accounting experience, including month-end close and reconciliations.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and standard accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Senior Staff Accountant:

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central is a plus.
  • Experience documenting and maintaining SOPs is preferred.

Education Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
