Our successful client is looking for a Senior Project Cost Accountant to join their team.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$85k – $100k plus Bonus
Position Overview:
The Senior Project Cost Accountant will play a key role in managing and analyzing the company’s financial performance by overseeing cost accounting functions. This includes developing and maintaining cost standards, analyzing cost variances, and supporting overall financial planning and decision-making. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in cost accounting, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments.
Responsibilities of the Senior Project Cost Accountant:
- The Senior Project Cost Accountant will develop, implement, and maintain cost accounting systems and procedures.
- Analyze and report on production costs, inventory valuations, and variances.
- Prepare and present detailed financial reports and analyses on cost structures.
- The Senior Project Cost Accountant will review and monitor standard costs, actual costs, and cost variances.
- Collaborate with the Operations team to understand cost drivers and suggest improvements.
- Conduct periodic reviews of inventory and resolve discrepancies.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, providing insights into cost trends and areas for cost reduction.
- The Senior Project Cost Accountant will support month-end and year-end closing processes related to cost accounting.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Continuously seek opportunities for process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency in cost accounting practices.
Qualifications for the Senior Project Cost Accountant:
- 5+ years of experience in cost accounting or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
