Our client is looking to add an Assistant Controller to report directly to the Controller of their growing organization.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$110k – $140k
Position Overview:
The Assistant Controller will oversee and manage the Accounting department’s operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and compliance with accounting principles and company policies. This role involves supervising accounting staff, managing financial processes, and collaborating with other departments to support business objectives.
Responsibilities of the Assistant Controller:
- The Assistant Controller will prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Assist in the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts, monitoring performance against budgets, and providing variance analysis.
- The Assistant Controller will oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, including invoice processing, payment scheduling, and collections.
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accurate recording of transactions and resolving discrepancies.
- The Assistant Controller will ensure adherence to internal controls and regulatory requirements. Coordinate and support internal and external audits.
- Manage, train, and mentor accounting staff. Delegate tasks and responsibilities to ensure departmental efficiency and accuracy.
- The Assistant Controller will identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance financial operations and reporting.
- Conduct financial analysis and provide insights to support strategic decision-making and operational improvements.
- Work closely with other departments (e.g., Manufacturing, Procurement) to understand financial implications and provide financial guidance.
Qualifications for the Assistant Controller:
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 in a supervisor role. Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, and Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects with attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with various teams.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting is required.
