Our client, a growing real estate company in the Fort Lauderdale area, is seeking an Assistant Controller to join their growing team. Salary/Hourly Rate:

$115k – $120k

Position Overview:

The Assistant Controller will handle all aspects of accounting and reporting corporate entities. There are dozens of smaller entities and properties that role up into the corporate books.

Responsibilities of the Assistant Controller:

  • The Assistant Controller will analyze the general ledger, calculate accruals, and prepare journal entries.
  • Prepare and review monthly account reconciliations and analyze variances.
  • The Assistant Controller will provide monthly P&L commentary and variance analysis.
  • Assist in the internal and external audits.
  • The Assistant Controller will manage relationships and liaise with external customers (Operations and Finance team, auditors).
  • Participate in projects to continue to improve close process efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Record monthly accrual entries.
  • Review and reconcile the general ledger.
  • Assist with payables, writing checks, posting entries, bank recs, monthly financials, working audits, and intercompany transactions.
  • Have an understanding of how government money is funded and the regulations under government.
  • Oversee the development arm of the business income. Refinance of assets, construction, lots of finance sourcing, construction draws, flows up to consolidated reports.

Qualifications for the Assistant Controller:

  • 7 years minimum of experience within Real Estate accounting.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • CPA is preferred but not required.
