Client Overview:

Our client, an established Private Label company that specializes in Women’s and Men’s. They are looking for an Assistant Designer with experience in Sweaters.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$20 – $22/hr depending on experience

Position Overview:

The Freelance Assistant Designer will be directly supporting the design team assisting with their daily needs in the Sweaters category. The Assistant Designer will be creating CAD’s from hand sketches, cutting trims and creating color cards, working on line sheets, and creating tech packs.

Responsibilities of the Assistant Designer:

  • Support the design team in all aspects of the design process- concept to finished seasonal deliveries
  • Collaborate in design process including technical flats, patternmaking/draping, and model fittings
  • Hand sketching
  • Assist in concept and research development for seasonal deliveries
  • Assist in creating CADs from hand sketches and creating tech packs
  • Support in development of materials and sourcing colors
  • Attend and notate fit sessions making detailed comments and revisions on fit

Qualifications for the Assistant Designer:

  • Experience using Illustrator and Photoshop
  • PLM a plus
  • Knowledge of sweaters
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication kills

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree – or equivalent is required
