Client Overview:

Our client is a multinational firm with distinct business units that serve a variety of clients, from individuals and small business owners to municipalities and major corporations. They are looking to add a Fixed Income Capital Markets Attorney to their team.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$175k – $225k

Position Overview:

The Fixed Income Capital Markets Attorney must have regulatory experience in Fixed Income Capital Markets and knowledge of trading agreements (ISDAs, MSFTAs, Repos). The Fixed Income Capital Markets Attorney offers guidance and advice to the designated functional area as well as suggestions to Senior Management regarding corporate action.

Responsibilities of the Fixed Income Capital Markets Attorney:

  • Collaborates with business and control functions, such as legal, compliance, supervision, risk, and audit, to manage FICM legal matters (transactional, litigation, and regulatory) and contemplates measures to improve policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Drafts, reviews, and offers advice on a range of agreements, from vendor agreements and NDAs to intricate documents pertaining to securities transactions.
  • Manages and supervises outside counsel in tasks related to the designated functional area or areas.
  • Drafts, reviews, edits, and negotiates a variety of agreements between the company and third parties using strong critical thinking and legal analysis abilities.
  • Mentors and coaches others. Creates chances for professional development and continuing education to give direction and guidance to the employees of the legal department.
  • Analyzes, implements, and suggests modifications to the organization’s policies and procedures.
  • Strikes a balance between competing demands for resources and priorities.
  • Oversees a portfolio of legal cases pertaining to the designated functional area(s).
  • Informs management of any changes.
  • When necessary, decides how to distribute legal reserves.
  • Oversees the upkeep of any necessary case status reports.
  • Contributes to the creation, preparation, and presentation of legal theories and tactics.
  • Prepares and presents legal matters to Senior Management both orally and in writing.
  • Keeps up with the latest developments in corporate and financial securities regulations and provides the organization with advice on proposed or existing rules and regulations.

Required Experience/Skills for the Fixed Income Capital Markets Attorney:

  • Experience managing a heavy volume in a rapidly evolving regulatory and business environment.
  • Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements and transaction-related documents.
  • Experience developing, preparing, and presenting legal theories and strategies.
  • Experience researching and analyzing laws and regulations related to a broker-dealer and/or the assigned functional area, if applicable.
  • Experience preparing and delivering written and oral presentations on legal issues to associates of all levels.
  • Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications, including legal case management software and Microsoft Office.
  • Must have regulatory experience in Fixed Income Capital Markets and knowledge of trading agreements (ISDAs, MSFTAs, and Repos).

Education Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) with excellent academic credentials and a minimum of ten (10) years of progressive experience in the relevant practice area(s) (law firm, regulator or self-regulatory organization, and/or in-house in a related area involving the financial services industry is preferred).
