Salary/Hourly Rate:
$45/hr – $55/hr
Position Overview:
In this Freelance Merchant role, you will lead a cross-functional team to drive product innovation, sales growth, and profitability through the development of trend-right and brand-aligned assortments. This Freelance Merchant role involves strategizing and executing product visions, managing business plans, and responding swiftly to market trends to deliver exceptional results.
Responsibilities of the Freelance Merchant:
- Develop and execute a strategic product vision and business plan, collaborating with cross-functional partners including design, planning, and international merchandising teams.
- Interpret and forecast fashion trends in alignment with customer needs, driving innovation in product assortments.
- Monitor and analyze the competitive landscape across both physical and digital markets to inform strategic decisions.
- Partner with planning teams to establish and manage seasonal strategies for sales, inventory, markdowns, and growth opportunities.
- Analyze in-season performance to identify opportunities for improvement in sales and margins, making agile adjustments as necessary.
- Implement and oversee a robust test-and-react strategy across all channels.
Qualifications for the Freelance Merchant:
- 5+ years of buying experience in a specialty retail environment.
- 5+ years of experience in a leadership role, with a proven ability to manage and inspire cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical, trend forecasting, and strategic decision-making skills.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising, Business, or a related field is required.
