Client Overview:

Our client is a renowned public research university. Our client focuses on rigorous education, cutting-edge research, and community impact. They are currently looking to add an HRIS Benefits Analyst to their team. The HRIS Benefits Analyst will serve as an independent contributor and must produce work with little supervision.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

Position Overview:

The HRIS Benefit Analyst is responsible for overseeing the technical support of employee benefit programs and ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies. The HRIS Benefits Analyst will collaborate with HR and external vendors to ensure accurate benefit enrollment processing, including maintaining benefit program structures, benefit rate tables, system interfaces, etc. This role is expected to identify opportunities for streamlining and leading system testing of benefits and ensuring that the product integration with HRIS and the downstream system is tied to business requirements and test results. In addition to benefits administration technical support, the HRIS Benefits Analyst will be responsible for serving as a backup in facilitating and implementing technical solutions for other functional areas within UHR, as well as developing functional specifications based on requirements and best business practices and implementing systemwide process solutions based on results.

Responsibilities of the HRIS Benefits Analyst:

  • Benefit Administration Technical Support:
    • Identify and document system issues about Benefit enrollments for health and pension plans.
    • Work with OIT, HRIS, and Payroll Services to troubleshoot and resolve system issues.
    • Facilitate the implementation of technical solutions by assessing business processes for efficiencies by developing and executing test plans for new system implementations and upgrades.
    • Validate data integrity and functionality of benefit administration structures post-implementation of enhancements/upgrades.
    • Develop functional specifications based on requirements and best business practices and implement systemwide process solutions based on results.
    • Use data analysis to identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions to ensure data integrity.
    • Oversee the technical support of employee benefits programs, ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies.
    • Conduct regular maintenance and updates to the Benefits module to reflect organizational changes and compliance requirements.
    • Identify opportunities for streamlining and leading system testing of benefits and ensuring that the product integration with the HRIS / ERP system is tied to business requirements and to test results.
    • Collaborate with HRIS, OIT, Benefits Administration, and external vendors to ensure accurate benefit enrollment processing and changes.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Serve as a liaison between university HR, PeopleSoft technical team (RIAS), Payroll, and other Benefits/Payroll Stakeholders.
    • Facilitate communication and training for the Benefits Administration team members regarding running benefit processes and understanding system functionality.
    • Serve as a technical HRIS SME for all Benefits Administration system functionality, development, upgrades, and decommissioning where appropriate.
  • Data Audit & Integrity:
    • Create and maintain benefit-related internal audit reports to update data as necessary.
    • Create ad-hoc reports to support decision-making processes and to provide employee-level information to stakeholders where applicable.
    • Create compliance reports pertaining to benefit administration legislative requests and third-party audit requests.

Required Experience/Skills for the HRIS Benefits Analyst:

  • 3 – 5 years of experience in benefits administration or HRIS roles.
  • Knowledge of working with large sets of data, including extracting, analyzing, and reporting on data to support decision-making.
  • Strong understanding of PeopleSoft HRIS and PS Query.
  • Comfortable with using Excel formulas for VLOOKUP & calculations, formatting, and presentation.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the HRIS Benefits Analyst:

  • Familiarity with cloud-based software solutions is a plus.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience is required.
