Our client is a leading healthcare provider with over 340 locations across the US. Their commitment to patient care extends beyond office visits, providing convenient access to healthcare through their online Patient Portal and is dedicated to improving clinical outcomes and enhancing the patient experience by integrating advanced medical practices and technology. The team is now looking for a (Hybrid) Pharmacy Technician – Ambulatory Care.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$20/hr – $22/hr

Position Overview:

We are seeking a (Hybrid) Pharmacy Technician – Ambulatory Care to support our Clinical Pharmacy team. This role involves providing direct telephonic patient care to enhance the quality of Comprehensive Medication Management services and improve pharmacy-related quality metrics for our high-risk patient population.

Responsibilities of the (Hybrid) Pharmacy Technician – Ambulatory Care:

  • Interact with medical staff to discuss relevant patient information.
  • Conduct chart reviews and patient interviews to identify and resolve medication adherence issues.
  • Perform medication reconciliation for recently discharged patients and update electronic health records.
  • Gather data and generate reports to improve clinical pharmacy quality metrics.
  • Document patient cases in electronic medical records.
  • Identify situations for referral to the Clinical Pharmacist (e.g., medication adverse events, drug interactions).
  • Educate patients on proper medication administration, adherence, storage, and disposal.
  • Prepare and manage patient education materials.
  • Reach out to patients identified from payer medication adherence reports.
  • Participate in training and orientation of new employees.
  • Report issues and concerns to the manager in a timely manner.
  • Comply with incident reporting policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to all required training and accomplishments.
  • The position is hybrid, requiring one day per week in the office on Wednesdays. Working hours are from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday to Friday. The duration is 4 to 5 months, with a target start date in April.

Required Experience/Skills for the (Hybrid) Pharmacy Technician – Ambulatory Care:

  • Minimum 3 years of retail pharmacy practice.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers.
  • Endurance for continuous typing, prolonged standing/bending, and walking.
  • Ability to operate in a typical office environment, often in cubicles and shared spaces.
  • Frequent communication via email, teleconference, or telephone.
  • Manual dexterity to operate a keyboard.
  • Hearing for extensive telephone and in-person communication. Proficiency in English, both oral and written.
  • Familiarity with standard office equipment (phone, fax, copy machine, scanner, email/voice mail).
  • Experience with standard office technology in a Windows-based environment.
  • BLS Certification.
  • Valid license.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the (Hybrid) Pharmacy Technician – Ambulatory Care:

  • Experience/knowledge in Ambulatory Care.
  • Hearing for extensive telephone and in-person communication.
  • Endurance for continuous typing, prolonged standing/bending, and walking.
  • Ability to operate in a typical office environment, often in cubicles and shared spaces.
  • Frequent communication via email, teleconference, or telephone.

Education Requirements:

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree.
  • New Jersey Board of Pharmacy Technician registration.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) with PTCB.
