As the company continues to expand, they are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior AP Accountant to support their accounts payable function and contribute to the efficiency of their finance team.

Position Overview:
Our client, a growing company based in Manhattan, NY, is seeking a Junior Accounts Payable Accountant to join their finance team. This entry-level position offers a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the accounts payable function while supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business. The Junior Accounts Payable Accountant will assist in processing invoices, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring timely payments, all while adhering to company policies and accounting standards.
Responsibilities of the Junior AP Accountant:
- Process and review invoices for accuracy, ensuring all necessary approvals are obtained before payment.
- Match purchase orders to invoices and resolve any discrepancies. Prepare and process payments to vendors, ensuring timely and accurate disbursements.
- Reconcile vendor statements and follow up on outstanding issues or disputes.
- Maintain organized records of all accounts payable transactions, ensuring compliance with internal procedures.
- Assist with month-end closing activities, including accruals and reconciliations.
- Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve payment-related issues promptly.
- Support the senior accounts payable team with ad-hoc projects and tasks as needed.
- Assist with maintaining accurate and up-to-date vendor information in the company’s accounting system.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards regarding payments and vendor relations.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency in the accounts payable process.
Qualifications for the Junior AP Accountant:
- At least 1 year of experience in accounts payable or a similar accounting function, ideally in a corporate environment.
- Familiarity with basic accounting principles and accounts payable processes.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to identify discrepancies and resolve issues.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software (experience with QuickBooks or similar is a plus).
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with vendors and internal teams.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
- Positive, proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and grow within the finance department.
Education Requirements:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred but not required).
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
