Their team is now looking for a Labor Relations Consultant!
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$50/hr – $60/hr
Position Overview:
This is a 6 month temp to perm position. The Labor Relations Consultant will play a crucial role in supporting and enhancing the relationship between management and employees. This position involves advising, developing, and implementing labor relations strategies that align with our company’s goals and objectives. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of labor laws, collective bargaining processes, and dispute resolution techniques.
Responsibilities of the Labor Relations Consultant:
- Labor Relations Strategy: Develop and implement labor relations strategies that promote a positive and collaborative working environment.
- Collective Bargaining: Lead and participate in collective bargaining negotiations, ensuring fair and equitable agreements between the company and labor unions.
- Dispute Resolution: Provide expert advice and support in resolving labor disputes, grievances, and conflicts through mediation, arbitration, and other dispute resolution methods.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant labor laws, regulations, and company policies. Keep abreast of changes in labor legislation and advise management accordingly.
- Training and Development: Conduct training sessions for management and employees on labor relations practices, policies, and procedures.
- Policy Development: Collaborate with HR and management to develop, revise, and implement labor relations policies and procedures.
- Data Analysis: Analyze labor relations data and trends to identify areas for improvement and recommend proactive measures.
- Relationship Building: Foster strong relationships with labor unions, employee representatives, and management to facilitate open communication and mutual understanding.
Required Experience/Skills for the Labor Relations Consultant:
- Labor relations experience.
- Union contract negotiations and union experience including collective bargaining grievances.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Labor Relations Consultant:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in labor relations, including collective bargaining and dispute resolution. Experience in a unionized environment is highly desirable.
- In-depth knowledge of labor laws, regulations, and best practices. Familiarity with current trends and issues in labor relations.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
Education Requirements:
- Relevant certifications such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or other labor relations credentials are a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Master’s degree or advanced certification in labor relations is preferred.
