Our client, a large manufacturing organization, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team based in Tampa, FL. This is an incredible opportunity for a Senior Accountant to be involved in a highly visible position with the opportunity to continue to grow their professional skill set. The Senior Accountant must be technically strong, comfortable taking ownership of their respective financials, and be familiar with SOX, US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), and cost accounting processes.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$80k – $95k
Position Overview:
The Senior Accountant will be reporting directly to the Accounting Director. The Senior Accountant will act as support for both general accounting and cost accounting processes. The ideal Senior Accountant will have exposure to the below criteria. This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Accountant to take the next step in their career.
Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant:
- Support monthly closing and financial reporting by preparing routine and complex journal entries, consolidating legal entities, and reviewing accountant-prepared entries, ensuring accuracy.
- Prepare monthly internal financial reports, including the Financial Report containing financial and statistical information for management.
- Manage annual Financial Statements, including footnotes, and maintain the ERP system for financial statement preparation, footnotes, and statistical reports.
- Coordinate quarterly and annual schedules and footnotes.
- Conduct internal audit control self-assessment reviews, resolve SOX-related audit issues, and ensure balance sheet account integrity through accurate review and preparation of audit schedules for external auditors.
- Assist with Cost Accounting processes and procedures as needed.
- Conduct and analyze variance analysis on inventory transactions and controls.
- Ensure month-end close periods are accurate, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and roll-forwards in accordance with reporting deadlines.
- Support LIFO and FIFO cost updates. Confirm all costs are updated in the internal ERP system.
Qualifications for the Senior Accountant:
- 3 – 5 years of experience in accounting.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel).
- Proficiency in SAP is preferred but not required.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or an equivalent related business degree is required.
