Client Overview:
Our client is leading global biopharmaceutical company dedicated to the discovery, development, and commercialization of innovative medicines. Their mission is to improve the lives of patients around the world by bringing breakthrough therapies to market. With a focus on high-impact therapeutic areas, we specialize in treatments for oncology, immunology, and rare diseases. Their team is now looking for a Senior Accountant.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$60/hr – $65/hr
Position Overview:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing general accounting operations by controlling and verifying financial transactions. This role involves performing complex financial analyses, preparing financial reports, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, and supervising junior accounting staff.
Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Ensure timely and accurate reporting of all financial information. Provide variance analysis and explanations for significant deviations.
- General Ledger Maintenance: Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes. Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and periodic forecasts. Monitor and analyze budget performance and suggest improvements.
- Compliance and Audit: Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and accounting standards (GAAP, IFRS, etc.). Coordinate and manage external audits and internal control evaluations.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff. Provide training and development opportunities for team members.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting operations. Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
Required Experience/Skills of the Senior Accountant:
- CPA Certification.
- Posting journal entries preferable in SAP.
- 4+ years of accounting experience.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Senior Accountant:
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelors degree preferred.
