Our client is an industry-leading commercial real estate company seeking a Senior Property Accountant located in Morris County, NJ. They are a dynamic firm committed to delivering exceptional property management, development, and investment solutions.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$95k – $115k plus Bonus

Position Overview:

As a Senior Property Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the financial integrity of their commercial real estate properties. Your expertise as a Senior Property Accountant will help ensure compliance with accounting standards, manage complex financial transactions and provide accurate financial reporting to support strategic business decisions.

Responsibilities of the Senior Property Accountant:

  • Oversee financial operations related to commercial real estate properties, including lease accounting, revenue recognition, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, reports, and budgets to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insight and analysis to support property management and investment decisions.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely processing of transactions and maintaining strong relationships with clients and vendors.
  • Perform monthly and year-end closing processes, ensuring all financial activities are accurately recorded and reported.
  • Assist with the preparation of tax filings, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Analyze and interpret financial data to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks.

Required Experience/Skills for the Senior Property Accountant: 

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in property accounting, preferably in a commercial real estate environment.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, or SAGE).
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and commercial real estate accounting standards.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
