Our client is a human services non-profit in Suffolk County that offers services and programs to assist the community. They are seeking a Vice President of Human Resources to join their team.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$130k – $160k
Position Overview:
The Vice President of Human Resources will be responsible for the effective operations of the human resources and training department, promoting organizational culture, tracking progress, managing risk, streamlining systems and policies, and negotiating benefits. They will supervise up to 5 employees and inspire the team to have passion for their work and the mission of the organization.
Responsibilities of the Vice President of Human Resources:
- Develop and implement the annual department operations plan.
- Recruitment, retention, and professional development initiatives.
- Oversee and provide hands-on support to the HR team.
- Track individual key performance indicators and performance goals.
- Plan and execute recruiting, retention, and training data tracking and analysis.
- Oversee the onboarding process and ensure.
- Maintain updated and accurate job descriptions and employee handbook and track annual attestations of all staff.
- Solicit employee feedback through stay and exit interviews.
- Perform market analysis and give recommendations regarding compensation and benefits.
- Organize and collaborate regarding staff appreciation annual events and other activities.
- Promote a high-quality virtual learning platform and move the organization into a high-quality virtual learning platform.
- Develop, implement, and disseminate human resource-related policies and procedures.
- Manage and oversee employee relations and manage risk.
- Process, research, and collaborate with the Legal team around complaints of a serious nature.
- Interpret and ensure compliance with all federal and state employment laws.
- Contribute to the resolution of payroll matters with the Finance department.
- Lead performance management training and coach managers on written and verbal evaluations.
- Attend fundraising events and board meetings; attend board committees.
- Participate in trade association meetings and create relationships with peers from agencies.
Required Experience/Skills for the Vice President of Human Resources:
- 5+ years of Human Resources Management with nonprofit/human service or health industry.
- Extreme flexibility and adaptability with a strong work ethic.
- Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to influence and persuade.
- Creative, independent, and strategic thinker.
- Training in cultural humility.
- Coaching/counseling in past duties.
- Microsoft Office Suite proficiency.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or a related area is required.
- Human Resources certification (SHRM or other accredited certificate program) is strongly preferred.
